Tarot Books For Beginners?

natalie8

Hi all. I love this forum and some Tarot sites for beginners that I have found, but I would really like to get a hold of a couple of good books to aid in my learning.

Thanks for any help.

Joan Bunning's "Learning the Tarot" and Rachel Pollack's "78 Degrees of Wisdom" are pretty solid beginner's fare. Waite's "Pictorial Key to the Tarot" is also good to have.

Happy exploring!

Thanks, CG. I'll see what I can find in the book stores here, as selection is pretty limited.

I like these, both show cards from three different decks which I find quite helpful.

My favorite is Spiritual Tarot by Signe Echols, Robert Mueller, and Sandra Thomson. The three cards are rider-waite style.

Another I found very helpful when starting out was Tarot Directory by Annie Lionnet. She draws from a number of different decks and includes Thoth and Marseilles too.

Joan Bunnings site may have an e-download which is something to think about if variety isn't encouraged in your environment?

Thanks, AJ. I'll look for the download.

I picked up "Simply Tarot" by Leanna Greenaway. It's quite simple to follow, but she only uses (I believe) the RWT.

sammiedoll, that's OK because that's the deck that I have.

'21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card' and 'Tarot for Yourself' both by Mary K Greer. Then Robert Place's 'Tarot: History, Symbolism and Divination' and 'Mystical Origins of Tarot' by Paul Huson.

What helped me after quite a long struggle and trying different books and approaches was Dusty White's book The Easiest Way to Learn Tarot-Ever. He also has a free forum to practice the exercises and you get support and feedback from others, including Dusty. It has made all the differnce to me!
