Decks You Wish You Hadn't Bought?

Nica

I am a strong believer that every deck has something to say, or a message it wants to relate to its reader every now and then. Of all my decks, the one that has never wanted to say a word is the Faeries Oracle. In the right hands, an oracle may be a powerful tool of wisdom; in my case, I feel the cards out of sync. This was my very first deck, but I just don't connect with it!

Faeries Oracle.

Haindl and traditional RWS style decks

Mine was! Not only were the images blurry, I had to reseal them all through a hot laminator because of all the bubbles and such. I thought resealing the cards would help, but they were still not sharp. I ended up just giving it away, because I knew I would never be able to sell or trade it. I got one of the earlier decks, so I don't know if the later decks have the same problems...

I just received the small version- she is using new matte paper so there are no crinkled edges and the artwork is much more crisp than in the big ones. If you liked the idea- you may want to try it.

Sigh- for me the one I wish I hadn't bought was the Haindl-it was pretty but dead to me. I tend to shy away from the traditional RWS style decks as the archetypes don't shine through as well as others, so thought I would love it, but...well- it was sent to a good home :D

Minotauro

Yes, that very one! The first one issued... because the second one had a really interesting back side!

Im sorry what decks are you talking about? they dont sound familiar to me

For me it's Ibis tarot.
I cannot understand them..

Hands down, my least favorite decks that I've unfortunately purchased are the Initiatory Tarot of the Golden Dawn, which looked more like a bad comic book than a tarot deck, and the Revelations Tarot with the reversals depicted in, again, an overtly cartoonish manner. *Gag*

Yes, that Haindl did nothing for me either. It said nothing at all and I was very disappointed to see that the 2 books it took to explain the card meanings would set me back a small fortune.

Bhavana

That's interesting, I'd always thought the objections to it were mostly about the creator Osho (the guru). After reading about him I definitely would have a hard time connecting with the deck. (I do have a teeny set of the majors, which came in the back of a book I no longer have.)

I didn't know Bhagwan personally, but back in the 80's I got picked up hitchhiking by some of his followers, and thru that meeting I came to spend some time with the Philadelphia chapter of the Rajneeshis. I was a young tender thing, barely of age, and the one running the show and the home they lived in was about 45, and a total slimeball. That group was all about the sexual and financial needs of dirty old men, and if I had that deck, using it to line the bottom of my birds cage would be too good for it.

right now, my only regret is not that the Spiral Tarot is not what I thought it would be. The borders alone are definitely the ugliest of any tarot deck - what were they thinking??
