also: does anyone write journal on the computer?

I'm another person who loves Evernote. You can set it to be on your computer(local) only, but syncing to your account online is wonderfully convenient. I have separate "notebooks" for tarot, Lenormands, astrology, recipes, fitness, etc., and I can easily access them from my computer, tablet, or phone. Or online on someone else's computer if I log in. You can install an extension in your web browser that will allow you to easily grab stuff off the internet and stick it in one of your notebooks, too. I adore Evernote and highly recommend it. I use the free version which allows you a very generous monthly amount of uploads to your account. I use it a ton and have never run out of room.

From what I remember, the main advantages of the paid version are a) unlimited uploads each month, and b) the ability to have notebooks available for offline use on your mobile device. (With the free version, to access your notes on your mobile you need an internet connection.)

I keep EVERYTHING on Evernote. I even write my Blog there before I transfer it in. It's nice to have your stuff saved on a web site just in case your computer goes down. I just couldn't live without mine.

That's evernote.com and yes it does require a password. And you can add in photos too. And links to other sites.

I have actually never had or used the paid version so I can't compare them in that sense. But I never saw any need to get the paid one. Yes, in my eyes the free version is excellent.

I've been using mine for almost 4 years now. At least once a day. i don't know what I would do without it. I use it for so many things.

I keep everything in it from my budget, to my newsletter as it is being written, to all my Tarot things (yes including readings I do with photos of the cards), recipes, signs I get from my life, gratitude logs....I find it helps to keep my most popular recipes there. Then when someone else asks me for my recipe, it makes it so easy to copy and paste it into an e-mail for them...

You can make folders for each topic, to make them easy to find. And yes you can add in photos and hyperlinks to web pages. And I just know the most simple functions, I think you could get fancier with it it you tried.

I use the paid version of Evernote but I think if you only want to use it as a Tarot journal the free one will do just fine.

What I particularly liked about Evernote was the ability to take a picture of the spread with my phone and then make notes about the reading. Any time I access that reading I will see the actual cards in the layout.

Most of my Tarot journaling is in a physical journal but that is because I like the aesthetic. If I wanted to keep a comprehensive journal for study in the easiest-to-organize way I would use Evernote. You can have separate notebooks for readings, deck studies, class notes and you can update and re-update them to your heart's content.

I've been thinking about going this route for my readings. But I want to make it searchable so I can go back and find a reading easily, say search on a given card and see what readings it has come up in and how I interpreted it. My thought was to go with a database as I've had some experience with them quite a bit at work. If you have Microsoft Office, you could create such a database, then create an entry form which looks like a journal page. If you don't have Microsoft Office, I would recommend "Open Office" (available at "openoffice.org" ... it's a free, open source, office suite with word processor, database, spreadsheet & a couple of others).

A database like this would have the advantage of being readily searchable. I don't know what search capabilities the previously mentioned journal / note type programs might have. Then again, those programs would work very well if you weren't concerned about searching for particular items, or using it as a catalog of readings. But a database would be easy to sort different ways (obviously by date, but you could also sort by which deck is used for example, or by the name of the person you read for, or the spread you used).

Also, if you have little or no experience with databases, creating such a thing could be a little daunting. But, like I said, I have some experience with building these kinds of things, so it's kind of what I think of right off. Though the idea of entering all the readings I've done since about 1993 is a bit intimidating.

Hmm ... I wonder if others would be interested if I did create such a thing? I wonder if someone already has?

I have office

i could never create a database.. :/
but it would be very interesting to see what you mean and how you do

is it possible to maximize windows in iDailyDiary and Evernote?

seen on web that some of these programs only can be open in a small window (not the whole window)
want it to be all over the screen, not only a small part of it
hope you know what I mean

???

Me too Babs... The free version is *EXCELLENT* as far as I can see all you get for the paid version is more online storage space if you use that as a back up. But I used it for ages offline without a problem, just had it local on my Mac.

If you do use Evernote Storm, there are some great posts about it on a thread here about Tarot Journaling.. there are a few Evernote experts here!!

I use Evernote too. I only recently became consistent when I started larning tarot, oddly enough. Haha.

Do you have a template or setup for spreads? I just use a numerical bulllet points and a snapshot.

I also have annoted with skitch or even better is the app Picsart on my mobile phone. I get creative. lol.

Thanks for recommending Evernote! I just installed it and it indeed works great for me. I put my readings there together with a photo of the cards. I love how easily you can search through your notes - but I'm used to handwritten journals and it's much more difficult to search them than the digital ones, he, he.

I can't speak for IDailyDiary which I have never used. But in Evernote, the window is always maximized when I use it. I have never used it any other way.

(Yes, I know what you mean.)

I love mine too. You can also put links to web pages there. I have a list of all my decks in one note on Evernote and I embedded a hyperlink in each of the deck names that goes to a photo of it that I have online. That way if I forget what one of my decks looks like (I have 115 so I sometimes do forget) I can see its photo and check it out.

Me too, I can always find what I need pretty fast there.

Also love how it automatically dates the entries, so you can see when you wrote each one at a glance.
