Hey guys!
How do you feel about borders on cards? I always thought the white borders distracted me a bit from readings, but I can deal with black borders or dark ones, although I prefer no border altogether.

What reads better for you guys?

Aw crap - wish I could revisit my vote. I have just GOT to stop mucking about on AT after only 1/2 cup of coffee so bloody early in the morning. :p

Anyway, I will say that I hate white borders. White borders drive me absolutely insane. It's like they push me out of the image, bouncing my intuition off the card the way white clothing reflects heat. Coloured borders, especially black ones, really draw me into the image.

Interestingly, a few weeks ago I took a thick black Sharpie to the white borders on my Giant RWS, but the more borders I blacked out... the more it started to bug me! I just couldn't stand looking at them anymore and a couple of days ago took a pair of scissors to the deck and started snipping. Looks and feels PERFECT without borders.

Wouldn't do that with standard size decks, though, since I prefer oversize cards to begin with.

It TOTALLY depends on the deck. But I never trim, even if I hate them.

HATE white borders- HATE them!

Back borders I can deal with, but I prefer NO borders at all. I want to see the image against a solid colored spread cloth and that's it.

I'm too terrified to trim my own cards, but luckily people sell theirs sometimes after trimming and I have benefited twice from this in the past few months :) Thanks, ya'll :)

Oh the difference off-white/ivory borders would make. ..

I've never trimmed a deck until 2 days ago. For some reason, somebody decided that 2 borders on the Lenormand Oracle Cards by LoS was the way to go. So out the scissors came (the white border removed) ... NOW it feels like the way it was meant to really be, and I may actually use it. I would never trim any of my other cards though.

Borderless decks are nice, but my favourite borders are thin. I don't care whether they are white or black, as long as they are thin and do not draw attention themselves. Borders like the Anna K decks (all of them), for example. Unobtrusive, thin borders, which preserve the image from the ravages of riffle shuffling, and yet don't detract from them. Those are ideal, to me.

I like a thin border, but I did vote "depends on the deck", because imo, it does. Some deck's art seems to need a frame, and some needs to be right out there.

I prefer borders that are drawn, if that makes sense. Like the green ones you see on all the Druidcraft cards, for example. I like those type of borders as long as they aren't too big. But I wished that those borders would extend to the edges. The border of nothing (whether it be white or something else) drives me a bit batty.

I'm trying to figure out whether I should make my deck with or without borders... I think I mind end up making 70% of them borderless and 30% with a thin border... with the feedback I'm getting here.
