Decks worn with time

Nica

Hi AT,

I am doing a call for entries. To me nothing says bonding and adventure like decks that look well worn with love. I was wondering if I could motivate you to share photos of your worn out decks with me. They look amazing laid out on a reading cloth, or even on a hard wood surface.

Whether you shuffle them out or rub them against a wooden surface, worn cards look amazing.

Also, does anybody else feel this way when they see filthy, battered decks? I can't be the only one who feels this way.

They fascinate me so.

One of my best buys was a few coins spent on a Tarot Balbi that had been so used over the decades that each card was falling apart, most of the printer's ink had rubbed off the images, and it was translucent.

How about this one? I didn't wear it out. I'm too young to have got a deck into this state , but here is my belovedly battered RWS. Stained and scuffed. Too delicate to shuffle really, but laid out once in a while to absorb its magical energies. And when I want to meditate on the horrors of lamination.

Richard

I throw away things that get worn out. However (mandatory disclaimer), if others treasure such items, that is perfectly alright, :D

Throw them in MY DIRECTION!

I have some older decks I cherish... an RWS without copyright, an original printing Hermetic, and a blue box Morgan Greer...

Here's some well-worn tarot and fortune-telling cards.

A few cards from my 44-year-old large-format Thoth. (Yes, that is clear packing tape on the dog-eared 2 of Cups . . .)
