King of Cups + The Tower

Brown Eyed Mystic

Hey everyone,

Just curious how would you interpret these two together in terms of someone's evolving feelings. I'm working with the Shadowscapes deck.

King of Cups + Tower

I think it could mean controlled feelings or perhaps even falling in love but the structure of control comes crashing down. Not sure though.

What do you think?

Thank you!

The HP

It's actually a very positive combo, regarding meeting a soulmate., unexpectedly.

Thanks Saradipidity. Could you please elaborate on the soulmate bit esp. with the Tower in there -- will be much help! :)

Well, it's part of my researching this combination. The King of Cups can represent someone that tho querent had developed a long term relationship in the past, that was very serious, could have led to marriage. The Tower represents receiving a call from this person just out of the blue. There is a deep emotional, soul level bond that is realized after so many years. It's very serendipitous

Hmmm very interesting. I'll keep an eye out for that type of scenario in future!

But what are your thoughts if the two people aren't ex's but maybe just on the verge of starting out?

Hello :)

King of cups and the tower don't make a good match here, because one is water and one is fire, the tower being a major arcana overrides the king ... So I would read the king reversed or Ill dignified here. .The evolving feelings are blocked and there is fear of rejection.. Too scared to do anything about their feelings , something is holding them back..maybe they are insecure.

Disagree

Johnny come lately on this thread.

I completely disagree that the Tower causes and "ill aspect"interpretation of the King of Cups.

A) if the card didn't come up Reversed, I see know reason to read it as such.

B) For me, the Tower symbolizes rapid or significant change and not automatically change for the worse.

I see this as a signal that a profound change is / has occurred and in fact interpret the King of Cups as throwing a positive aspect on the Tower card.

More in line with Brown Eyed Mystic's interpretation.

Since this was several months ago, I'd be interested to know how it all turned out.

Late addition

Happened to see this thread as the combo came up for me in a personal reading just now.

I see the King of Cups as calm and control in reaction to a crisis, and the Tower as the unexpected crisis.

In a love reading I would see the King of Cups as a reticent or passive persona...the Tower as "lovestruck"...helplessly in love but unable or unwilling to express it. The Tower implies ultimate dissolution. Unrequited love it is.

I would interpret the Tower in this sense as either love bringing your walls down/making you feel unsteady on your feet or in a more literal phallic/sexual way. I think it's a good combo - mature love and excitement.
