People's experience with The Lovers

spiritofjosh

Using RW deck, no reversals. For the past maybe 2 months, I would say maybe 6 or 7 times out of 10 I would get The Lovers card when asking about my ex girlfriend. It comes up in more positions than one, as her feelings towards me (multiple times), as outcome (a few times), and last night when I asked what is the likely outcome to happen between her and I before this month of August is over. I don't remember any of the cards I used to clarify The Lovers besides last night when I asked about our outcome this month, 2 of wands was the clarifying card.

The Lovers clarified by 2 of Wands to me shows an obvious decision or choice because from my understanding that's at least one of the meanings behind these two cards. But in terms of how these two cards can relate to me and my ex and me wanting to reconcile, and for these two to show up as the likely outcome for August, I'm not sure what its trying to tell me or why The Lovers keeps coming up so often in general for this same person. Is she deciding between me and someone else perhaps?

What experiences have you guys/gals had when getting The Lovers in these type of readings (relationship outcome, reconciliation, feelings, etc)? Did you end up finding out person in question was choosing between you and someone else, or just choosing a relationship with you or none at all?

Both cards (Lovers/any Two) can indicate the need to make a choice. Wands can be about passionate energy and ego. Together, then, perhaps your ex is trying to decide if reconciling with the known entity (you) outweighs potential "better" passion for herself elsewhere. The Lovers is also sometimes about breaking apron strings away from what one's parents or previous beliefs were to trying out new experiences that may fly in the face of one's history.

So, perhaps she is going after new experiences but still keeps the possibility of returning to you in her mind right now. If she finds what she deems to be "better," she may be gone forever; if not, she might come back. I don't think this pair of cards indicates anything solid at this time, though.

We don't necessarily talk but there are no burned bridges or turmoil between us, yet at the same time I constantly get the feeling of "unfinished business" which is why I ask the cards.

As far as new experiences of course this is an option, we all look for new experiences but I'm just trying to figure out if the cards are giving me any hints on what the other choice may be other than myself. Last week I asked the same question, what is likely to happen between us before August is over (my expectations aren't high, I was just curious to see what it said) and that time I got Knight of Pentacles clarified by 6 of Cups. Another card that I have read pertains to nostalgia and sometimes even reconciliation...so I've read. So comparing that combo to the one I mentioned here and putting them together, I'm wondering if that is trying to tell me something too.

You've gotten your answer. she's thinking about you. You two are young and maybe she needed to find new experiences. She needed to grow on her own. The woman in the lovers picture is looking towards the angel, yet the man is focused on the woman, which sort of sounds like your situation. 2 of Wands also suggest she is seeking new, worldly experiences.

6 of Cups can be about reconciliation because it can be about something returning, but that something can be nostalgic feelings about her. I don't like the 6 of Cups for a reconciliation card because of the dual meaning. Knight of Pentacles could be you, fixated on the pentacle and not moving quickly out of the situation.

I think if Lovers, 2 of Wands, 6 of Cups and knight of Pentacles are the only 4 cards, then it does look like she will return.

I would suggest that you stop reading on her and just let it go. If she returns, she returns, but if she doesn't you've spent a lot of time reading and thinking about something that you could have spent more time on something else. It's a waste of your precious energy. Of course, this advice is soooo much easier to give than take and like you, I have been in the same situation....always asking the same question. In the end, it's futile because what will happen will happen.

I don't spend that much time on them! Haha I really just do a 1 card reading with a second to clarify maybe once a week before I go to bed. Otherwise I'm at work or out somewhere else. But with your response, the 4 cards I got weren't all at once, maybe a week or two apart as 1 card readings. I haven't really done much more than them this month but last month I have received The Lovers quite often.

Another thought. She could be the knight of penta taking her sweet time, thinking about things over and over. Knight of pentacles has a tendency to overthink things. They aren't the type to make a quick decision.

Yes! That was my first interpretation on it and when I thought that my gut pretty much confimed, "yes that's it."

Basically when I got that combination I just immediately thought, things are moving slow, but they are moving towards something that maybe isn't going to end up all bad (6 of cups). However I've had very little experience with 6/cups.

This. My dear, when you keep going to the cards this many times (which we all have done) it is too much. You want her... you miss her... you ache for her... you are obsessed with her.... do yourself a favor and follow this advice from earlier: (and know I am saying this as an older woman who learned the hard way --- and... sigh... I guess that is how we all learn ;) much aloha to you!):

I think the Lovers in your case may very well be telling you that the relationship you shared with her was a karmic one. A relationship that was important in your life, presenting difficulties and happy times, all as part of what was a soulmate connection, which was to help you both learn valuable lessons. But not all soulmate connections are romantic. In fact, soulmate connections are quite frequently about lessons we need to learn here in this life or that the person in question needed to experience but they don't occur in romance necessarily.

Looking at the Lovers and 2 of Wands, those two would say, "It was karmic but now it's time to reflect on what the lessons might be, but move on and seek other lessons waiting for you."

I usually only pull cards about her maybe once a month, this time it ended up being twice. Usually I don't at all. I normally only use Tarot cards for other people or things and try and just let whatever is to happen with my ex, happen at will.

I read a lot about Karma tied in with The Lovers. I suppose I overlooked this meaning because the way our relationship ended was abrupt and I feel like I got nothing out of it but some good memories. On her end, who ended it, I was her first boyfriend ever despite her being in her 20's but she became too insecure within the relationship to fully handle it and juggle her life aside from me. So with karma as a subject and these two cards, I wonder if the meaning changes then?
