Some Business Card Advice

Obsydian

Now's not the time to instill self-doubt upon me for my brand! ;)

In essence it's my "stage name" turned into a business name. Sounds kind of shaman-y, however I try to steer away from using that to describe myself for appropriation reasons. I do communicate with animal guides in my line of work, and my general motif is cat/animal.

I (think: vistaprint is strange) I cancelled my card order since I feel I want to rework it anyways a little.

But I thank you for your advice!

That's fine - all you need is a 5-seconds-or-less answer for why you go by that brand. People will ask but they usually aren't too interested. "Little Fang was my stage name I used in the past" is enough.

Obsydian

I appreciate any advice and thoughts from all of you and take it all to heart. So thank you again!

@Shade: I can understand that! Thanks to you and anybody else who is allowing me to question myself to gain more knowledge.

I considered changing the art and told this to my best friend, she jumped at the chance to have a portfolio piece. It's going to be more "tarot looking" than a cat in a cup, and will feature a drawn version of myself in more mystical tarot style. Can't wait to share it when it's done.

My vistaprint order partially shipped? From what I gather that means I'm still getting half a shipment of cat in a cup cards but have credit now for my next order. Cancelled slightly too slow.

Did you create that image or was it from a deck?

Hi Obsydian, I can't see any harm in testing this card version first as you already have it shipped. See how it goes and then replace the stock with new design.

I, too, think that the picture you had was a bit too cartoonish for my liking, but I loved the general idea of a cat in the cup and it looking like a Tarot card. I, too, am trying to brand myself away from the witchcraft style due to it's possible scariness so I think it's a great idea to be as approachable-looking as possible.

Btw, to succeed, you must have confidence to stick with your choices. Not everyone will like your name, card, tag-line or business in general, but you can't possibly please everyone anyway :) take feedback where you feel it's constructive, otherwise ignore and just do your own thing :)

It's an image I drew a couple of months back. :) I wouldn't dare try to take a picture from a deck, as tempting as it could be!

Thanks Saskia! I'm growing into standing my ground, as I've been a weak little page for too long. I've been growing along with my practice and my business, and I'm learning to roll with the punches. I had a minor lapse in confidence this morning, but I'd like to blame the retrograde. Yes. That's it! Mhm. It's good to get all the opinions and thoughts that I can, it's very helpful in my growth and that of my business

I keep getting updates of this image my friend is doing, and I like it so much more than a kitty in a cup!

Best of luck whatever you end up with - I have yet to find a card I really like so I feel your pain LOL

Well, I never saw your cat in a cup card, so I can't comment.

The first post links to a card with a picture of a paw and the infinity symbol on it- I really like that one :)
