Baba Studios Mythical Creatures Tarot

FLizarraga

I doubt if it will be a "cheap" version. On the contrary, I'd expect it almost to cost more, as a limited edition...

Your eagle eye saw the same thing I saw, gregs, but I made my comment regardless, because I love Baba, but I loathe the direction they are taking with their new decks --from "something for every one" to boutique and special editions ONLY, and from inclusive to exclusive.

It is/will be new, and they have discussed it on facebook. So if you don't go there....

But on their website they seem to have made the decision:

The Mythical Creatures (monochrome edition). Pre-order—deck will be shipping September 2016.

The link goes to Tarot of Prague - but THAT is suppose to ship sooner than that - in May It looks like they made the decision to go monochrome, and slipped up admitting that as a preorder, while still testing the waters on facebook ?

Very odd....

That's interesting, because I had made a search about an hour before and there was nothing. It looks, however, like they are in the process of creating the sale post, since, like you can see, that's just a dummy post with Tarot of Prague info.

If it's a cheap deck for the hoi polloi, a tea towel might be more appropriate than a scarf. Attractive AND practical ;).

I wonder if they might make them all 10 of cups instead? I do like the towel better.

According to some exclusive intel I have received, the deck has been renamed. It is going to be called the 7 of Cups Tarot, and comes in three flavors: Silver, Gold, and Platinum. (The Platinum edition cards will have tiny diamonds for eyes.)

The Silver will cost an arm, the Gold a leg, and the Platinum either an arm and a leg, or your reproductive organs. Your choice.

P.S. Still no news of a scarf.

I read what Baba Studio wrote on Facebook. She clearly outlined what they can and cannot do as a small studio which hopes to maintain high standards.

The decks are expensive but no more so than many small run decks.

For those that have access, there's another picture of the deck prototype cards posted on their page on October 8, 2015..

I was wondering who had been after them to produce it. I guess that must have been where it originated then? I'd like to see more before I get enthused.(The scarf?)

That's true, to a point. But their prices have gone up A LOT lately. Like A WHOLE LOT. And they used to give people more choices, at different price points, none this exorbitant.

I'm speaking here as a Baba fan, one who has acquired several of their older masterpieces (sometimes at considerable sacrifice) and would love to continue buying their decks, but one that has simply been priced out. They have gone full Manhattan, a sad trend that we're seeing everywhere, as in "You're rich, or you're out."

Not that it matters to anybody but wouldn't it be nice if Karen came by to explain what is going on with this new trend or at least to say hello ? :(
ALSO a big fan of their decks even of the Victorian Flower Oracle which is unfortunately OOP ...
