10 of Wands as an Action

Laurelle

Pretend you were in a situation and needed help. You just simply couldn't do it on your own and you drew the 10 of Wands, what would you think?

I am at a crossroad with this card because on the one hand it could mean that the person helps me with the additional weightiness of the situation, but on the other hand we see the man in the card walking away. In both cases it is a difficult situation that requires strength, stamina and it is a lot for only me to be able to handle. I can it do it on my own, but it will require a lot more effort, stress, and the entire situation is taxing.

I just want to make sure that I am doing and making the right decision.

This was part of a 5 card spread. There were no elementally opposing cards. It was all air and fire.

I would take it as a warning that I will have a lot of work to do and that not getting help will add a load to this burden. I feel that Tarot is telling you that if you do this task, a lot of work will be required.

Now I don't know if you must do this task or if there is any way that you can get help, but you know what to expect! ;)

I should have phrased the question better. I am aware that I cannot do this on my own and I want to ask for help. If I ask for help the action the other person will take will be the 10 of Wands.

Does that change things? Because I am already feeling the burden on my own. It is what the other person's action would be if I asked them for help.

If it's the action the other person will take, then I would say that they will help you to shoulder the burden.

I don't see the man in the card walking away, I see him making uphill progress toward his goal, which is in sight. This looks to me like a guy with a lot of gumption and a good one to tap for help, as long as you pitch in aggressively and don't just add to his burden. I see the Wands as "big-hearted" (generous) in most situations.

This was the first thing that I thought, but I just wanted to make sure I would be doing the right thing by asking for help.

Thanks for both of your input and tarotquest too. All of you are very insightful.

If you know the person you would ask already has a lot on their plate, then the figure walking away in the 10W could represent them walking away with their own burdens, unable to help you. But if you don't know that they're already burdened, then I would say that the figure is walking away from you carrying some or all of your burdens.

This person doesn't have the burdens that I carry. There's are fairly weightless as they travel light.

My deck (Herbal Tarot) advises that the 10 of Wands means to let others share in the burden. Perhaps the other person won't pick up their share of responsibility until required to do so. 10 of Wands signifies the ability to accomplish something but it will be much more difficult on your own.

I'd assume that I just have to slog it out and do all the "heavy lifting" myself.

I've never yet met a situation where, when devoid of help, I couldn't do it all on my own. Sometimes it seems difficult, but I've always come out the other side of all situations in my past without dying.
