help with oracle of the dragonfae

I was at the store today and saw the box of oracle of the dragonfae and was drawn to it but I was running out of time to get to work. So at work I looked it up on here and fell in love with it but there is a problem. The pics from here are different then the one in the store. This is the 1st ed http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/dragonfae-oracle/ I love the colors to it. Now when I looked it up on Google to see more cards I found that there is 2nd ed (the one in the store) with 12 new/different cards by someone new. http://www.blueangelonline.com/dragonfae.htm.

Does anyone on here have both versions that can post a pic of the different cards. I love the colors of the 1st but I don’t mind the borders of the 2nd. What I am worried about is that there are some art of the 1st that I am in love with and am worried that in the 2nd that they replaced it with the art of the new guy. (lovers at the feast is one change) Also I think the new ones there backs are of the girl on the box and not the pentacle.

If you are in love with the 1st version, I got sent a 2nd version a lot of the card of the 1st version have changed and it is for the worse.

Look up Jimmy Manton's artwork and that is the artwork instead, if you like that, get the 2nd, but thw 1st version is getting increasingly hard to get.

I've been trying to find pictures and more info on the differences between the two versions of deck as well, and have had no luck with it. On youtube, there are a couple of videos that show the cards from the first version, but none with the second. I couldn't find any pictures!

I decided that I wanted the oracle anyway though, so the second version of the deck on its way to me. I love the original borders and backings, but like you, I don't necessarily mind the new ones from what I can see.. But I also wonder, what will the new artwork be like?

Since I could never find any pictures of all the cards, I decided that I may post pictures of this newer deck when I receive it, so that others will not have the same issue... It may be a couple days though, as I don't know exactly when the deck will get here, but hopefully by the end of the week. Perhaps someone else may be able to help you sooner?

I honestly don't like Jimmy Manton's artwork either. That is why I will never purchase other oracles like Gods and Titans, Goddesses and Sirens, and Isis. Maybe there are more, but as soon as his name pops up on an oracle deck, it's ruined for me!

My deck arrived today... I took pictures of the updated cards in the deck.

I have to say that my first impression is that I'm not very happy with this newer version. I really really liked the old version for these cards, and I was disappointed to see that one fourth of the deck is like this. It's not even that the art is bad, it just feels really disconnected from the rest of the deck. They're also really similar to each other, so it feels muddy... but maybe I'm just stuck in a mentality of criticism and comparison right now, and it will start to grow on me?? Time will tell...

I feel the disconnection also, hence I am trying to get the first edition, well I have bought a copy - no news of when it will be delivered! The energy was conveyed in the card last time round, this lot of cards, the energy seems vacant in this deck and I can't read with that!

Likewise, I wouldn't buy Jimmy Manton's art, it just grates on me, but, each to their own!

Agreed... the new cards in the second version definitely don't feel like they carry the energy of what the deck had to say. It really veers away from intuition because the images don't feel like they belong or match to the message... very distracting.
Good luck with getting the first version! I should have done that.. I mean, I knew the second version artwork was going to differ, and perhaps not be as good, but I didn't realize just how inappropriate they would feel and how great of an effect it would have on its function. Its like the original version but with potholes. It feels incomplete, and vacant as you said. I don't understand why they changed it.. I doubt Lucy Cavendish had anything to do with it.
My impression of the deck is so tainted I also find it unreadable as of right now. I will give it another try in the future perhaps to see if the distaste can wear off... or I will just sell it perhaps. I considered removing the cards and having a sort of thinned out version, but it doesn't feel fair to the deck.. after all, it wouldn't make much sense or feel right to me to chop out a whole suit in a tarot deck.
