New TdM II, from Rio IIIIto, Tarot de Marsella Robledo

eltarot78

Hello Patrick

in fact, they are coming from Chile,
that was the other important point for this new edition,
because shipping costs from Argentina to Europe are of u$s 63 for each deck :(
Shipments were the most difficult point with what I had to deal
luckily we have achieved a uniform and affordable price to anywhere in the world

I hope you enjoy many of the decks

to know when they are on the right

A recommendation for when you receive the deck.

As the cards, in order to provide a better experience they have not included them make some of copyrigth or something like that, which I believe takes away appearance of authenticity, has no way to identify if the cards are on the right or vice versa.

For this I recommend when you open the box, you'll see that the deck is wrapped in a paper recreating the old style in which they were manufactured, takes this role, there you will see that the deck is wrapped with nylon, open the nylon maintaining order in which are the cards, Take it to the set with one hand and with the other hand marks the upper edge of the cards with a fiber pencil, preferably in a brown or ocher color (or color of your choice) and the use is more homogeneous to color that you gain by use and thus remain covertly cards marked with the indication of whether they are right or vice versa

I never thought to mark the cards along the upper edges in this way to tell if they're upright. Very clever!

Hi Kalliope, I'm glad you found it useful

kalliope

I received my new 2016 (Iskander) 5th edition today! It's lovely.
I will think of it as the polished and elegant sibling of the 1st edition I have.

I love the more even borders, a consistent color quality on the card backs (no help with telling which is which!), and rounded corners. The cardstock is pleasant and seems durable, and I won't be afraid to take this deck with me to gatherings with friends. The box is wonderful, and the card back design is pretty. The background card color is still that nice aged beige shade that I have come to strongly prefer over white. I will always find the size of your decks to be perfect as "full-sized" for me. Smaller and narrower than the average tarot, but not as small as a pocket deck.

All in all, it's a very professional edition of the deck, and I'm so pleased to own it and add it to my collection!! My Marsella Robledo 1st Edition and the small Dodal reproduction are my two favorite historical decks to read, so it will be in good company. Thank you so much for continuing to produce your decks. :)

This new one does have slightly more muted colors than the others. The coloring is subtly shaded and very attractive, but I must admit to having a soft spot for the incredibly bold and lively printing of my 1st edition! (The Dodal is quite bold as well.) So now like a crazy person I'm drawn to ask a few questions about how the 2016 compares to the edition before it, which I missed. :cool2:  :p

--How do you refer to it? Was it the 2nd or 3rd edition? Or by year? (ETA: just realized it must have been the 4th Ed, since this new one is the 5th!)
--Is it sold out, or still available somewhere?
--That one had rounded corners also, correct? Did both the 3rd and 4th?
--Is the cardstock the same as the 1st edition (or Dodal), or different?
--Are the colors similar in saturation to the 1st and Dodal?
--Are the line drawings more similar to the 1st or the 2016?
Thank you, and sorry for so many questions!

I have attached a few pictures comparing the 1st Edition (top rows) and the 2016 edition (bottom rows), for anyone interested.

Hello Kalliope

They look very nice,
I'm glad you continue to find it to your liking

This deck of my creation has evolved from edition to edition according to things I was learning during the journey of self-knowledge, each edition you can see it as if it were a different deck.

In this post you can see the subtle differences more marked between the first 3 editions

https://www.tarotforum.net/showpost.php?p=3460414&postcount=277

The 4th edition, was working thanks to the advice of Bertrand Saint Guillain to achieve a look closer to the appearance of the woodcut, while the 3rd edition was being awarded by the Tarot Association

https://www.tarotforum.net/showpost.php?p=3783464&postcount=477

During the year 2014 and part of 2015, to improve the appearance of the lines, I took the job of carving it in xylography, to know what the lines really are. During that work is that Cesar Gamboa, from the Iskander publisher contacted me, which gave rise to the friendship and the proposal to print it in a really professional way.

The paper that has been used in this ocacion, is German black core paper of 330gs, which is the black core paper? Is a paper that unlike other papers that are composed of two sheets, this paper is 3 sheets, with a black core, which gives another rebound, prevents the translucencies, and despite its thin appearance, gives it robustness and durability . Is the paper that is used for the best playing cards of casinos.

This edition is more similar to the 4th edition, but with some details revised.

Of the previous editions has not been absolutely nothing,
everything is in the hands of the public in private collections.

All your questions are welcome, thanks for your photos
(For the next equinox of this year we plan to publish a Dodal, revised and aged, but in this same quality)

I have read exclusively with the Marseilles Tarot for 35 years. I have used many variances of The Marseilles, but about a year or so ago I happened across this deck. The moment I released it from the box my relationship with it has been intimate indeed. For me the Tarot de Marsella Robledo is more than simply a reproduction deck. It has a richly organic sense about it. I knew very little about the background of this deck when I purchased it or even Pablo for that matter, but for me reading with this deck presents an intuitive sensibility and leafing through it (as I often do) I can feel the sacrifices and focus Pablo must have put into creating it. Somebody really wanted to create this deck and I feel that through every card. I now read only with this deck since.
