Tarot Card Creation App

Aegishjalmur

Hi,

I would like to take the Catelin Geofrey wood block prints add colors, then add them to some beautiful minors I found called Virgil Solis.

Can anyone help me with this please?

Where will you get the images you want to use ? You may need to explore permissions - I have no idea who owns them; the extant cards are in the Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt, and you might need to ask them to be able to use them.

http://cards.old.no/1557-geofroy/ notes that the pips are from the Vigil Solis. Also:

The French Catelin Geoffroy deck of 1557 is the first block printed deck to survive. This high-quality deck has figures that are more animated and rounded than the usual stiff TdM woodcuts. The Trumps have standard numbering, and the imagery is similar to a standard Tarot de Marseilles deck, with some unique exceptions. The Tower shows two people caught in a storm, one of them playing the violin, while the Devil has a shovel over his shoulder. The pip cards are based on the German Virgil Solis deck of 1544 with suits of Lions, Monkey, Parrots and Peacocks.

I don't think the Geoffroy deck has been reprinted. (I note that you asked in another thread.) Someone who specialises in historical decks is the best person to ask - Yves Le Marseillais, for instance. http://tarot-de-marseille-heritage.com/english/index.html

Thank you I went ahead and contacted them. I don't need permission because the image, are in public domain. I've checked. I am just looking for software designed to make cards.
Or, even software created for photos or something that works to print cards. Also, this deck is just for me.

Thank you for you response,

Mateo Gómez

Can I post the webpages where I got the pictures in the first place. Its in public domain. Idk if you watch youtube but there's a channel on there who accomplished what I am trying to do.

You can post links like that, sure.

To create cards etc - you can just use something like photoshop, and then you can upload them to Printerstudio or Makeplaying cards to print them.

But it does matter where you get the images - if, for instance, out of a book, the author of that book holds copyright on the images in that book, no matter that the originals are public domain., But if they are just for you - I guess it isn't an issue.

Two of better-known softwares (free) are GIMP and Paint.net (Google GetPaint) - I think they're both for Windows OS. There is a learning curve with using them, I've heard, but I've limited experience so I can't really say one way or the other. Worth checking out, though.

what about a mobile app??

I know this thread is old, but now that it's 2017 and there's a mobile phone app for everything out there...why not a mobile app that lets us create tarot cards? Wouldn't that be fun??
