Question about Ink Jet Printers
I know a lot of people who make limited edition decks produce them on desktop inkjets. I have a question about this... I'd like to get one that can do the following: 1) Change the black ink cartridge separately, since I will be using mostly black ink. 2) Can print on just about any stock, 11x17 or larger 3) Will register on both sides of the page. In other words, If I'm printing cards that don't bleed, I'd like to be able to print the fronts and backs so that they line up perfectly. Any suggestions? |

We have a Canon that does that, and I also have a Lexmark - but it uses a hell of a lot of ink.... Only up to letter/A4 paper though. (I lie, I think the Lexmark does A3....) The lining up is a BITCH whatever printer you use ![]()

From what I've been told by artists who sell prints, Epson is the way to go when it comes to inks and paper. There is a model that prints large scale, for about $600 (Canadian). If you will only be printing a short run, you might want to look at photo-finishing places etc. who offer printing services. This might be a more cost-effective route. |

Yes, Epson makes a very nice printer. I use an 8 color modle (2 colors of black - matte and gloss, btw). Biggest issue with any printer is getting a handle on color output Going to a larger size, you may have to print off of a roll. If you are, you may (as Irmata notes) want to go to a printshop and have them print and laminate it. (laminate as in a protective film that also firms up the stock...not something heavy. Sales prints and the like are done in this fashion) |
