It's a great tool to tap into the unconscious.

thanks for explaining and the website that was really helpful.

I'm glad it helped! . I use that technique all of the time. And now, even cards like Death aren't as daunting as they seemed at the start.

I have only been reading Tarot for just over 4 months, so I am a newbie. But, I feel like I have learned a lot a largely due to letting my card down, bonding the the cards, keeping a journal, and becoming comfortable with my intuition. It's normal to have questions, doubts, etc; this shows that you are thinking about how the card or cards relate to a situation.

Theres always something new to learn and add to tarot i have been reading for awhile just for fun for friends and fam. I do it mostly for self but recently started reading more everyone on here whos posted to questions i have asked has made me realize that theres always some new aspect you could add to every card.
I'm into astrology and so i use elements and also signs to help guide me. I think as long as your making sense of what you know and coming up with answers than it does not matter 4mths to 4 years some of the people who have posted im new this is what i think on a card offered me alot of insite into my own cards and made me think alot so dont sell yourself short

^ I am delving into using elemental dignities as well and it is helping me understand card pairings (how certain elements work better together or cancel each other out), but I've much to learn.

And, I just noticed I said "letting my card down" instead of letting my guard down, ha!

When I first started using the Tarot I was attending college and in the process of questioning my religion and other beliefs I'd held all my life and never questioned. The Queen of Swords showed up in my very first reading and proceeded to show up over and over and over again in my personal readings throughout the next two years until the process of my deconversion and transformation in worldview was complete. Nowadays I barely see her at all.

All last week, the 6 of Swords kept popping out of the deck at odd moments or showing up in readings. Also, ever since I started using Tarot cards, the Queen of Pentacles has seemed to show up at the oddest moments. Since I tend to be daydreamy and aloof, I think she may show up as a reminder not to lose my head completely. It was interesting back when she and the Queen of Swords used to show up in readings together!

The first card i pulled for my first reading for a friend was Death. And suprisingly, that made it easier becasue i never felt i had nothing to say about that card. i was using the Mange Tarot where a cloaked figure leads a woman to the light so i love the card, and it is easy to start, i think, when you have to say " youre not going to die"

(But, again, to be somewhat rational, I do realize I may not be the best shuffler ever). Sometimes, when I have a very casual (almost conversational) reading with my cards, I simply ask my deck to show me what it thinks I should see, a few days ago the Sun came up and this person called within the next five minutes.
I have a similar situation. For me, it is the Sun and the 6 of cups. I have come to believe that these cards keep popping up in regards to this certain person because these two cards best represent the energy of our relationship.
