It is time for Little People to become Big People. Somebody told him to be the Bigger Man, yes? So he stands on a bench. That mallet in his hand is a perfect size and weight for coshing the friar and the jester standing nearby - this image tells us that religion and entertainment are not as much fun, or as important, as hard manual labour on an archway that eventually will have a "Do Not Enter" sign hung near it. At least, that is what one hopes will be hung over this gateway, not some other slogan like "Hard Labour Makes You Mumble". Somewhere in the dim recesses of the construction site he has already started the barbeque for smoko - you can tell because he is wearing an apron. All he needs now is for the toffs to go away so that he can lay down his mallet, sit down, and eat. Swinging that mallet is looking better and better.

Upright: Work only as long as you are watched.

Reversed: Pretend to work only as long as you are watched.
