Scholarly books about tarot

Thanks for the links to these, fractalgranny.
This paper points out some other sources that are worth looking into, but the author missed Art Rosengarten's important research (see _Tarot and Psychology_). Even within the realm of so-called 'scholarly' works, you have to be careful. The abstract for this paper claims Tarot came from Egypt and, in the text, that its origins are too obscure to bother with. These are huge red-flags to me as to how 'scholarly' this author is. Furthermore, he reduces the reading options to paranormal versus cold-reading, which sets up more red-flags and suggests an agenda.

The book by Helen Farley, _A Cultural History of Tarot_ (see last link), is well-worth it, although there are a few problems with her history and conclusions that were probably discussed in the Tarot history section of Aeclectic.

I should mention that some of the best scholarly work on Tarot can be found in the Historical Research section here, but at times you have to wade through a ton of sh-t, and its not always easy to find what you are looking for.
