Progressed Moon for Timing

Barleywine

I've always found planetary transits to natal planets to be rather hit-or-miss as a method of timing events (although contacts to angles and planetary returns seem to be a little more reliable). Back in the '70s it was common to use the progressed Moon's contacts and ingresses as a predictive tool, but I haven't heard much about it lately. I'm curious what current thinking is on that. Any opinions?

What I've personally seen (in my limited experience) is that

the progressed moon (progressed from the Solar Return - I use a sidereal zodiac) does seem to perfect an aspect when events occur. But generally there is often a transit accompanying a significant event, so not sure how much extra information the progressed Solar Return moon gives, but this seems to be a fairly reliable technique in the Fagan Bradley school.

I don't use progressions from the natal chart, so can't speak to that. Good question, I hope more experienced astrologers chime in.
