Books That You Shouldn't Like But Do

This is a variation of a question of one in the decks forum that occurred to me.

Any book you cherish or turn to that gets dissed?

Eden Gray's books get a fair amount of dissing, I see from time to time, but they were my first, and I still turn to her carefully phrased meanings for cards again and again. And I see some of the same meanings brought up by some who disparage her books.

The only tarot book that comes to mind is Nancy Garen's Tarot Made Easy which I like for the large B&W Rider Waite images more so than the content of the book itself....
