Pre-natal astrology

Ross G Caldwell

Has anyone done any work on prenatal astrology?

It might be interesting to look at Mercury and Venus returns - we all come into life with several Mercury returns, and most of us with one Venus return. Perhaps also, if there is data and sensitivity to the subject, to look at difficult births and spontaneous abortions or stillbirths from the perspective of astrology.

It would seem to be a case of a "chart within a chart", since the baby is in the mother, so perhaps the pre-birth aspects of the fetus' with the mother's chart are of primary importance.

Cycles

Venus turned retrograde in Dec. of 2005 and will next enter a retrograde period in August of 2007 -- so, it is likely that only some people will have a single retrograde period prior to birth and following conception.

Mercury does go retrograde quite frequently but the start of its retro periods is not close to the 9 months and 2 weeks or so period from conception to birth -- so, while we may experience a couple of Mercury retro's, the cycle itself is not apparently important.

There is a cycle that is coincidental with the conception to birth period. This is found in Solar Returns when you progress the daily MC at the rate that the Sidereal Time in an ephemeris moves ahead each year -- about 30 hours or 5/4's of a circle. This is why the Sun changes positions in the Solar Return chart each year by about three houses. This is true for both Tropical and Sidereal and precession-corrected Solar Returns but, generally, only the Siderealists "know" this and use it. After nine months and about two weeks, the MC point returns to its previous S/R position, completing a cycle of experience. In the remaining 3 months or so it moves to its next Solar Return chart position.

And, there is the ten lunar cycles that compare to the gestation period for humans.

It would seem to me that studies of conception-to-birth might want to consider and explore congruent cycles. Just a suggestion. Dave

Hello

I've never given much thought to it. But after reading this - it sounds absolutely fascinating.

Conception charts

It's actually an old concept. Some Hellenistic astrologers preferred to work with conception charts. Just how they had accurate data for this is not said....
