Reader Personality Poll Spread

Amanda

Hey Amanda!
I used the gilded and here's what i got...

-33 cards then the High Priestess
-19 then the Magician
-Empress by itself- very fitting i think. lol. I am often very tired the moment i offer a reading. Poor me :D I'm either lazy or i have issues that i've never had a chance to deal with myself, so what hope could i have for others, although i often mean well. Have i understood the meaning of this empress here well? If so maybe then i do need to work on that.
-3 cards then Temperance
-16 cards then Hermit.

I can sort of see the hp and the empress (lack of) in me but am not really feeling the teacher type of thing in the hermit. What you think?

Well considering that the Hermit was last and had nearly the same stack of cards as the Magician, I would say that you primarily rely on your intuition (High Priestess) but then fall back on previous experiences you've had with the cards and what they've meant in other spreads. I think that's what the Hermit is doing here for you. Like, say you are looking at someone's spread, and your intuition kicks in with some interpretation you made of a card in another unrelated spread by someone totally different at a previous point in time... would that make sense?

Yes, you have a harder time trusting the cards that you get, it seems. The Interpreter wants to take the cards at face-value, but perhaps in your spreads you are finding 'odd' cards that don't seem to fit with the subject matter. Would that make sense?

Actually that does make sense. There is always a card that doesn't seem to fit, then I start doubting my interpretation.

A really intriguing exercise this and the results seem to have confirmed a thought that I'd been having about the uses of my two decks.

See what you think. :)

So I did the exercise with my Fenestra Deck first:

18 to The Hermit-Teacher
4 to The Magician-Interpretor
15 to The Empress-Healer
0 to The High Priestess-Mystic
13 to Temperance-Alchemist

23 Cards over

Clearly I use this deck as a Teacher, Interpreting the cards to facilitate Healing. I'd like to think that I bring other skills to the table when I read such as my spirit of Empathy and knowledge of 'Real Life' shown by the high count of the Temperance card. This would account for the lower Magician number too as I 'feel' the spread and the sitter and thier connection to the cards rather than the 'book values' of each card.

Maybe why my High Priestess value is nil is that I use these cards as a tool to enable my connection to the Universal Knowledge which I see as merely factual and not particularly 'Esoteric/Mystical' at all? I am quite a matter of fact reader.

Your interpretation seems apt to me; I would say this deck is more 'meditative' to you, where you don't necessarily interpret the cards at face value, or intuit from them... but rather, absorb and discover the information it gives... and maybe look to see how it plays out more- this deck kind of seems like a reference deck to you... or like, the deck you fall back on, perhaps simply because you have more experience gained from it, or learned the most from it?

I did the same with my Revelations Deck and got a really interesting response from them.

26 to Temperance-Alchemist
2 to The Hermit-Teacher
2 to The Empress-Healer
5 to The Magician-Interpretor
31 to The High Priestess-Mystic

So it would seem that with this deck I get more deeply into the Universal connection. Looking into Past Lives, Karma and Dreams with this deck. Maybe using Revelations for my personal studies and own Spiritual progression and the Fenestra for 3rd person readings? This is an idea I've been batting about for a little while now but I tend to feel a bit retisent about 'furthering my spiritual studies' coz it always sounds a bit...wicky?

This does seem like a deck where you are taking the time to learn a little more about yourself through it... kind of like you are aligning yourself with it and seeing how the glove fits you personally, so to speak, with the Alchemist and the HP being so highly stacked. If/when you ever decide, you could probably learn a great deal more about this deck by teaching/healing/interpreting for others with it.

In the cards left over, both decks reserved the Judgement, 9ofSwords and 10ofSwords for my attention. These 3 crop up quite a regularly in my personal spreads. Interestingly Judgement has been in the 'outcome' position of the last two of these and I've been a bit unsure at to how to take it in either one. *shrug*

Well Judgement is about heeding a higher calling... I'd say in combination these cards may be saying something about you being capable of taking on "more" with your readings, but you're looking right past that ability and seeing the responsibility as greater than you are capable of handling and fearing total failure with that which keeps you locked in place from making that move. In other words, perhaps you are ready to move on to something "more" with your readings, but not allowing yourself to do that because of the troubles it might bring (that are likely just a bit out of proportion from what you think they might be to what they actually will be).

Just some thoughts to ponder..

Amanda_04: I do not have Christine Jette's book, but intrigued by your spread. So just tried it. & even more intrigued--but getting ahead of meself. I used a vintage Aquarian because it is handy & one of my go-to decks.

The results in order of their appearances & the number of cards to reach them:

1. 1-The Magician-Interpreter, 14 (Temperance)
2. 2-The High Priestess-Mystic, 21 (The World)
3. 14-Temperance-Alchemist, 8 (Strength)
4. 9-The Hermit-Teacher, 8 (Strength)
5. 3-The Empress-Healer, 6 (The Lovers)

The first thing I noticed was that the number of cards for each category themselves allude to or echo a Major Arcana, so I have included same in the list above. That could contribute towards insight for the particular card result (though for reading purposes, prefer to not use a 'clarifying' card designation). & an 'odd' number might allude to pip card or even a court card, but would depend on how one orders the deck...oops, getting distracted.

I thought about reading the remaining cards, but there are 16 (The Tower!) so no ;)

Thus, it would appear that for the purposes of this study that I am primarily a Mystic (which sort of fits), followed by Interpreter. I need to read the descriptives for each, but have an interesting story regarding the appearance of The High Priestess.

Many years ago, after losing a favourite reading playing card deck, I dithered over whether to stay primarily with playing cards or switch to Tarot as a reading vehicle. I had begun reading with playing cards as a pre-teen; also added an oracle deck, Zolar's Astrological Tarot Deck, but only used its oracle side & not paid attention to the Tarot. During a meditative moment, I had a vision that remains one of the most intense experiences. The High Priestess appeared, floating towards me & getting bigger as she approached. She smiled serenely, looking so real I could even see water flowing beneath her feet. That clinched the dilemma. Some time later, I realized I saw the RWS High Priestess.

Thanks so much, Amanda_04, for a most enlightening experience & one I shall continue to study & learn from!

Btw: I always enjoy your posts & your generous sharing of your talent & knowledge, so kudos in order!!

Thank you MeeWah! I almost didn't post because I thought others might think it silly to do a poll with the cards... and I went into posting this not even considering how it might develop- but the contributions in this thread by you relating the numbers and the others trying different decks has really added a lot more to it, and I'm really glad I posted it up because now I'm finding even more meaning in it than I probably would have if I had kept it to myself. It really has kind of turned into a group effort and blossomed with all the different ideas added to it... so thank you. :)

Finally had time to have a go at this and I got:

1) Temperance - 34 cards in pile
2) Magician - 1 card
3) High Priestess - 8 cards
4) Empress - 2 cards
5) Hermit - 11 cards

So that makes me primarily an alchemist drawing on different areas to conduct my readings.I obviously need to work on my interpretative skills an empathy. :) It makes sense in a way - I do fall back on knowledge and my more mystical inclinations and my readings tend to be blend those two reading styles primarily.

It makes perfect sense Amanda cos its so true. Btw you have this gift of intuiting and explaining this so easily. I know i sometimes do that but i hadn't seen that in the magician and hermit. Thanks

This is and old thread, but not SO old, and I really like the idea of this. I got...

High Priestess - Mystic (30)

The Hermit - Teacher (9) - and of these 9, 6 were cups.

The Empress - Healer (6)

The Magician - Interpreter (9)

Temperance - Alchemist (9)

There were 10 cards left over.
I couldn't help but notice 3 of my stacks contained 9 cards - The Hermit!

I can see why I got so many cards under the High Priestess, since I've been putting a lot of effort into that dimension of my life lately. And likewise, I've been putting the least amount of effort into being a nurturing "Healer" type.

Glass Owl

I totally missed this thread when it was originally created so I thought I should give it a go. I used the Illuminati:

18 Magician ( in this deck he is called the Alchemist) - Interpreter
9 Empress - Healer
8 Temperance - Alchemist
8 High Priestess - Mystic
11 Hermit - Teacher

Just checking in. I tried this spread when it was first made, and the reading still holds true today, especially now that I have more experience and readings under my belt, haha. I never was a fan of BSing people ;D
