3 of wands clarified by the Hierophant

How would you see this combination? 3 of wands - waiting for ship to come in after putting something out there. If the Hierophant is supposed to say something similar would it be like the person waiting to hear back about a proposal? Or maybe the feedback someone receives reinforces the status quo?

First thing that came to mind when seeing the thread title is "Waiting because it's the proper thing to do". Don't know if that resonates or not.

I just got the 3 of wands and emperor combo, and have been getting the hierophant a gooseload of times!!!

I agree with rodney and I like the waiting interpretation - perhaps they are being traditiona.

Thanks Rodney and Reverie. I can see that as a possible interpretation. This was regarding something unexpected that might occur. Don't know if that changes anything.

Maybe in that sense someone who would normally follow up on something might find themselves waiting instead of bugging someone unnecessarily.
