Oswald Wirth - Shin the Fool and Tav the World

Sophie

I have to add I do not yet have Wirth's book.

Does anyone know Wirth's rationale behind correlating Le Fou and shin and Le Monde and vav? Was it to preserve the "finality" of le Monde?

Diana

Wirth says that Le Monde corresponds to Tau.

There are regularly nice editions for sale on e-bay france of his book, by the way.

Joseph Paul Oswald Wirth (1860-1943):

We think that enough has been said
to enable each student to discover
for herself the complex signification
of every arcanum in the Tarot.

(quoted on page 246 in) Tarot of the Bohemians (1892)

I have a feeling Oswald retained the 21-22 Sin-Taw flip-flop
(which is nothing more than an old "le choix du revendeur")
from an abiding affection and respect for Stanislas de Gauita.
The marquis had been his true friend, and it was his manière.

Yes, I meant Tav!
Thanks for the tip :)

Thanks Fulgour. And did Gauita ever explain or is that a hope to far...?

Interesting choice, however. I shall have to ponder.

I don't think anyone has ever really paid much attention
to all the shenanigans going on with cabalistic attributes.

Repetition is the mantra of the unimaginative magicians.

Kaballah = Astrological, Numerological, Magick: MAGIC.
Now what do you suppose really goes on in their heads?
