Intriguing Qabalistic Stuff...

jmd

Thanks for the link, Macavity.

I was going to begin a new thread on other intriguing and interesting Kabalistic items, but thought this might be a better place to post - even though it is quite distinct and different to the one linked above.

Regarding the ten emanations from the Divine, the ten Sefirot, Robert Fludd, in his Philosophia Sacra (Frankfurt) of 1626, has the ten spheres at the end of ten rays emanating, or radiating, out of a solar-like image in which is written (in Hebrew) the tetragrammaton. Each ray contains a Divine name, and the emanations are titled in Latin (as per below):
  • (ray:) Ehieh -> (sphere:) 1. Corona (Crown);
  • (ray:) [J/]Iah -> (sphere:) 2. Sapientum (Wisdom);
  • (ray:) Elohim -> (sphere:) 3. Prudentia (Prudence - a strange duplication here, for 'prudence' is often given for the cardinal virtue of Wisdom, though it does fit quite well with Binah);
  • (ray:) El -> (sphere:) 4. Clementia (Clemency);
  • (ray:) Elohim Gibor -> (sphere:) 5. Potestas (Power/potency);
  • (ray:) Eloah -> (sphere:) 6. Gratia (Grace - interesting, especially considering some of the discussions we have had on this concept);
  • (ray:) [J/]Iehoua Sabaoth -> (sphere:) 7. Triumphus (Triumph);
  • (ray:) Elohim Sabaoth -> (sphere:) 8. Honor (Honour/fame);
  • (ray:) Elchai uel Sadai -> (sphere:) 9. Redemtio (Redemption);
  • (ray:) Adonai -> (sphere:) 10. Regnum (Kingdom).
I thought I would leave this post as more descriptive, rather than commenting too much on its names...
