Thoth Spreads

Sphinxmoth

Hey, everyone!

happy new year and all that. hope all your Yules, Christmases,
Hanukkahs, Solstices etc were great for you all.

does anyone know if there's (a) thread(s) on spreads people use *particularly
with the Thoth* anywhere in this forum?
anybody remember offhand?- please go to no particular trouble on
my account.
I am just about to start going through the pages, see if I
can find some, but if anyone remembers anything good I should
be looking at for sure, I could use a good tip.

this is such a great board. i am an ubernewbie here, this might be my
fourth post lol. but coming round just to read is always so pleasant
and informative.

peace, da moth

Hi Sphinxmoth, welcome to AT :)

I don't think there are any spreads specifically made for the thoth. When I started using the thoth a lot, I found many of my favorite spreads didn't really work so well for me with that deck. I now prefer small spreads, and often in blocks of cards (so you have rows and lines of cards).

Banzaf's purple book on the Thoth has a few nice spreads in the back also. You've probably seen this thread already, but just in case. Here's the jackpot :)

Thoth

I know that there is a Thoth spread which is the one that comes with the book. I have not seen any threads here discussing the Thoth spread. I would like to start one. It is incredibly accurate

The spread in the LWB is a variation on the Golden Dwn spread (frget its name right now). There is a thread about it here Its a bit too big and complex for me, but there are a few AT'ers I know who use it and get a lot our of it. :)

That would be the Opening of the key spread. It's an interesting spread and you don't need to spend hours on it like it says. You don't even need to do all the operations. I find the first two operations good, which would be the card counting and the card pairing. They are excellent practice at dignity and correspondance.

I personally think linear spreads work best because A.C. made his deck carefully to apply dignity, elements, and correspondances.

I like to use a 13 card hexagram spread with the Thoth deck. (See crappy diagram below :D It's supposed to be two interlaced triangles.)

I like this spread because it offers a little more room for interpretation than other spreads that only use one card per postion.

.....(7)(13)

(3)(9) (4)(10)

.......(1)

(6)(12) (5)(11)

.....(2)(8)

The numbers are the order the cards are dealt.

1) The Situation, the question etc., etc.

2 + 8) Subconscious thoughts and feelings.

3 + 9) Conscious thoughts on the subject.

4 + 10) External influences, conditions or other people's effects etc., etc.

5 + 11) This is where the situation is heading.

6 + 12) Advice on what to do or a possible course of action.

7 + 13) The possible outcome if you take the advice.

jeez, it took me forever to get back to my thread here, and for that, I do
apologise. i meant to reply to similia much sooner.
but now i sees there's been time for some new replies.
thank you all so much for the input, even the crappy diagram, Aeon.

Speaking for the deck and myself, we both like triangles.

i actually hadn't (d'oh) looked at the index of spreads yet, i will be going
back to that a lot now to use as a resource of ideas as i go along thinkin
about things.
thinbuddha dropped a real good post into that thread you mentioned
just a little bit ago. cool.

oh, and rainwolf's valuable comments. everything duly noted and much
appreciated.

Rainwolf, or anyone else who uses the opening of the key. ;-)

I'd posted a couple questions about it here: http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=17651 But with no responses so far. I thought I'd bring it up here in the Thoth forum too, and see if anyone here knew. Thanks!
