If you're coming to the Thoth after considerable experience with other systems. a good comparative analysis would be a useful way to zero in on the Thoth's unique perspective. Robert Wang's The Qabalistic Tarot takes on such an analysis, comparing the imagery and symbolism between the cards in four different decks: the "Golden Dawn" (as painted by Wang, I believe; he's no artist IMHO), the Thoth, the RWS and the TdM. One of my favorite tarot books, and a good companion to DuQuette's.
