I'm sorry I'm late to the party, but I just received this deck for Christmas. I have coveted it for a while, so am fascinated and excited to read your interpretations of it.
I guess I have the new version, because she is holding a crab. I also don't see the oyster and/or the crab at the mer-peoples' feet.
I don't have a magnifying glass so I may be blowing this out of proportion (so to speak!) but the mermaid appears to have...erm...a male dangly bit. The merman appears to have one as well, but much smaller. *lol*
This could mean that while birth and menstrual cycles are the purview of women; we are more alike than different, and that it takes both the male and the female to create life. Yin and yang, perhaps?
I haven't researched the meaning of the crab, but it seems very important here.
Any thoughts?
