Under a full moon, four citizens of the Wands tribe do battle. A full moon is often associated with times of madness, lunacy and the baser animal traits overwhelming rational thought (e.g werewolves).
The RWS shows five combatants each holding a Wand. In the DM, there are 4 combatants with the fifth Wand standing alone like a trophy on a mound. Whilst the 'battle' wands are bare and lifeless (or have been moulded into clubs), the fifth Wand is alive, planted and sprouting a flower.
Are the combatants fighting for this beautiful Wand? Is it a time of scarcity, and therefore a battle for survival? Have they wasted their own wands and now fight for the last valuable one?
It's everyone for themselves. They are all one tribe, and yet they fight their fellow tribesman. Perhaps an indication of a group breakdown? Infighting weakens the tribe, leading to paranoia, mistrust and ultimately break-up.
