Shamanic deck?

laurence

I want to know if there is a genuine shamanic tarot deck or oracle deck.
Can you answer this post if you heard of It or post me some link?
The one I've found are sioux origin and do not seem really authentic.

Thanks everyone.

The most genuine;

The Greenwood

or

The Ironwing..

I'd also recommend John Mathews & Wil Kingham's Shamans Oracle but that's for another forum...

There are others but I doubt you'd think them authentic...

:)

You mentioned Sioux so I'm assuming you are looking at Native American?
Have you checked out the Lakota Sweat Lodge Deck?
50 cards, all designed by a Lakota Sioux Chief so it is authentic.
The cards are large size, I cropped a set and they are still nice size. Nice artwork.
The book is full of info on the cards and what the images represent, etc.
It's not hard to get a copy of either. The Greenwood and Iron Wing are pricey.

review of the Lakota deck:
"This deck is a very special collaboration between Chief Archie Fire Lame Deer and three women who shared Inipi experiences and Lakota Sioux spiritual teachings (and who also support each other in a Full Moon Circle and other spiritual rituals). Ann Louise Goulene is responsible for the spirit voices, traditions, card spread guidance and meditation texts; Wendy Meg Siegel is responsible for the card interpretive texts and spread concepts. "

I will echo the recommendation for the Greenwood and Ironwing although both are difficult/expensive to find.

Some people have success with the Wildwood as a Greenwood alternative although it doesn't have the same feel for me and it doesn't work for me as a deck.

I would also suggest Tarot of the Sidhe for that 'otherworld' energy - those cards work brilliantly for 'journeying'.

Thank you everyone for all the information. I take good note of all of them!!

I read a lot with the vision quest tarot. Its not a real shamanic deck but it does feel like it.

Aeric

This is an older article, thus older decks, but it is very thorough in analyzing their worth to a contemporary shaman, a devotee of Michael Harner.

Valerie Sim has vanished from the Tarot world and I'd love to pick her brains on the newer shamanic decks.

The Tarot of the Celtic Fairies represents Otherworldly places and folk that I've actually been to as a shaman in a few cards <smile>.

Oddly, I've done some of my best shamanic voyaging with the court cards out of the Visconti deck. Must be because they're all real people - and dead people.
