Herbal Tarot - Eight of Cups - Gravel Root

You can see the minor arcane cards in Constellation 8.

Description: Eight cups are stacked on rocks beside a large body of water. There is a large sprig of gravel root behind the cups. There is a sailboat leaving the cups and a crescent moon in the sky.

Significant Details: The cups symbolize containing emotions and life forces. The rocks symbolize stability. The gravel root sprig represents cleaning out unnecessary items. The boat symbolizes travel.

Keywords: Disappointment, Restlessness, Longing for deeper meaning, Moving on

Medicinal Uses: Gravel Root has been used medicinally since the 1st century BC. “Gravelroot has a tonic effect on the kidneys and a diuretic and anti-rheumatic action. It is a traditional remedy for rheumatism, gout, and gravel in the urinary system. Herbalists may also recommend it for cystitis and prostate trouble.” American Nature Guides Herbs by Anna Kruger.

My Interpretation: You may be feeling disappointed or restless during this time. This may be a time to leave your problems behind and move on to better opportunities. You may be trying to find a deeper meaning in a situation.

Number Significance: 8 – Movement, Change, Action or Inaction, Accomplishment The 8 of Cups is ruled by Saturn in Pisces. The Eights are in Constellation 8 with VIII Strength and XVII Star. Self-Confidence. Fate. Perseverance. Power. Force. Kundalini Energy. Hope. Grace. Balance.

Thoughts/Points to Ponder: Why were the cups left behind? Why did the people not take them along in the boat? Maybe they didn't see them there?
