The Adventure of the Dragon Prince
A Story based on the Wands Suit of the Merryday Tarot by Louisa Poole

This is a story where the main character is the King of Wands before he became the King. It is the events leading up to it.

I am not totally thrilled with this one. It did not flow like the Pentacle Story did.

Atop the highest mountain on the hot and fiery continent of Ronanan lived the royal Dragon family. This family considered themselves better than the humans because the blood of the royal dragon ran in their veins. They were a vain and proud family for sure. The great Dragon Prince wanted to venture out and explore the world of the humans before he became king, but leaving the sacred mountain to explore the land of the humans was never done before. How would he disguise his scaly skin? So, before embarking on his journey he visited his immortal ancestor the Great Fire Dragon. He told of his desire and the dragon agreed to this. The Great fire Dragon cast an enchantment that would disguise the Prince’s appearance so he would look human, but it would only last for one month. After this time, he would have to come home and assume his role as King.

The Dragon Prince embarked on his adventure to live among the humans not expecting to be very impressed by them, but curious non the less. When he arrived at the foot of his enchanted mountain kingdom he was greeted by the forest creatures with reverence because they knew who he truely was. The Prince allowed the animal creatures to pay homage to him. After all he was the Great Dragon Prince was he not??? Observing the lands of the humans as he traveled he was surprised to see that not unlike his own enchanted lands, this land had a beauty and harmony all it’s own. He was impressed.

Eager to see how the humans lived he ventured on until he could see over the precipice the busy city where the humans lived, worked and played together. The prince could not help but be impressed. He noted the hard working people and all of the great machines they invented and businesses they were successful at. He noted that they were very successful and carried out their visions well. He started to feel that maybe he judged these people rather harshly. They were inspired by their dreams and imagination and a thirst to explore. He began to work with the people and found their ideas and inventions ingenious. Not only did they work hard but they celebrated their lives with music and dance.

After their long day was over, they would gather and dance with music that beat to the pulse of their hearts. The Dragon Prince found himself loosing his self righteousness and inhibitions and joined them in this spiritual dance. He found himself dancing with a beautiful and entrancing woman. Often times the people would take part in games and competitions. To impress this mysterious woman that he had met at the dance, he would compete with other men in order to show off his skills to her. After time, he became close with her and felt they had a soul connection.

Days passed and the Prince’s time was running out. He must leave or risk having his true identity revealed. He came to realize that he was no better than the people of his Kingdom. As a matter of fact he had grown to admire and respect these people. Before he left he must tell the woman that he had grown to love the truth. That he was truly a prince, the Dragon Prince, part human and part dragon. He must explain to her why he must leave and that it was his duty to marry and someone of dragon blood so he could become king.

This was not acceptable to this woman. This was a woman that never gave into defeat. She was driven to live out her dreams and what she knew was her destiny. She wanted to live out all her days with the Dragon Prince and set off to prove herself worthy. Her friends and family cheered and supported her as she left to prove herself worthy of her future king.

As she traveled to the Kingdom of the Dragon, the Dragon himself sent obstacles her way in order for her to prove herself worthy of being part of the royal family. She passed many tests proving herself worthy time and again to be Queen to the future Dragon King. It was her bravery, strength of character, steadfastness and inner beauty that convinced the Dragon that it was an honor to rule the people that she came from. The Dragon learned the same thing that the Prince did while living amongst the people. That they were worthy of appreciation and respect. The woman stopped to rest and contemplated if after all her work proving herself did she want to move on to the enchanted land of her Dragon Prince after all. She looked up toward the top of the mountain and followed her inner voice. She knew as Queen she could be a conduit between the royal family and her people. She could unite the kingdom instead of separated. She went to her prince and soon they became King and Queen of the land. They ruled with compassion and were there to protect and provide for the needs of their people.
