Herbal Tarot - Seven of Pentacles - Rhubarb

Soaring Eagle

You can see the minor arcane cards in Constellation 7.

Description: A man is sitting on a rock holding a hoe in one hand. The man is thinking. There are seven discs with five-petaled flowers upon them intermingled with a large rhubarb plant. There are mountains in the background, and the sky is stormy and dark.

Significant Details: The discs symbolize security and wealth. The rock symbolizes stability. The hoe symbolizes planting. The mountains are the gateways to the spirit realm. The sky represents problems.

Keywords: Fruits of labor, Reaping rewards of hard work, Investment

Medicinal Uses: “The root is used as an anticholesterolemic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitumor, aperient, astringent, cholagogue, demulcent, diuretic, laxative, purgative, stomachic and tonic. Rhubarb roots contain anthraquinones which have a purgative effect, and the tannins and bitters have an an effect that is opposite that of an astringent. When taken internally in small doses, rhubarb acts as an astringent tonic to the digestive system, when taken larger doses rhubarb acts as a very mild laxative. The root can be taken internally for the treatment of chronic constipation, diarrhea, liver and gall bladder complaints, hemorrhoids, menstrual problems and skin eruptions due to an accumulation of toxins. Note that this remedy should not used by pregnant or lactating women, or patients with intestinal obstruction. Used externally, rhubarb root can be used in the treatment of burns. More recently there have been claims that rhubarb root (Rheum officinale) can be useful in treatment of Hepatitis B.” http://www.rhubarbinfo.com/medicinal

My Interpretation: This is a good time to make financial investments and for enjoying the fruits of your labor. This is also a good time to introspection.

Number Significance: 7 - Discovery, Imagination, Instincts, Urges, Introspection. The 7 of Pentacles is ruled by Saturn in Taurus. Rhubarb is ruled by Mars. The Sevens are in Constellation 7 with VII Chariot and XVI Tower. Starting. Causing. Stimulating. Control. Breakthrough. Self-Development. Insight. Building Up and Letting Go. Conflict and Trials.

Thoughts/Points to Ponder: The man in this card appears to be thinking. What is he thinking about? It doesn't appear that he even notices the discs close to him.
