Playing Card Show and Tell

Gunther Anderson's collecting card site says

Sanyo puts out the Hiroshige playing cards.

Gunther Anderson has a listing of card makers/distributors. I never have got my Japanese poker decks or Hana Fuda cards online--I go to Kinkinaya bookstore and other Japanese bookstores or museum stores with Japanese art collections.

I've seen the Hiroshige cards at museum bookstores that exhibit Asian art and some fine stationery stores---the Hiroshige deck I gave away 10 or so years ago and just recently bought again from Kinkinaya when I was there this Spring.

Here's a link to Gunther Anderson--his website lists lots of suppliers and publishers.

Sasugabooks.com might be able to assist you with direct inquries. They supply Japanese Tarot from Japan to me if Tarot Garden does not have sources.

Borders Bookstore had the collector's edition of Spirited Away with the 52 card deck. Princess Monoke came from a small Japanese bookstore, Nikaku--you can search first under Miscellaneous, then their playing cards--they do not carry tarot.

If I find that one of the Japanese stores has a reliable link online--other than Sasugabooks.com, I'll post here.

I doubt that U.S. Games distributes for Japanese suppliers, but I'll check.

Best regards

AJ

I got my Hiroshige on ebay, they come up 2-3 times a month.

Me too, that's where I got the book as well.

Hiroshige and other Japanese-theme playing cards

Good selection, have not used them though. I've eyed the site for a year or two, just haven't ever ordered from them.

I saw R. Somerville has Piatnik decks with Japanese themes. Their 'daily life' one with photographs looks pretty.

I remember giving one poker set from Piatnik as a gift that had some beautiful decorations in the courts, but rather plain number sets...I like the ones with different pictures on every card for fun...
