English Magic Tarot

flipperjane

oooh - lovely new deck in the making - due out next spring. This is being made by some friends of mine - we currently have some of the images framed and on the wall in the organic cafe where I work - it's lovely to look at Tarot on the wall when at work :D

Oh!! This looks cool! The artwork looks like playing cards and I love the vintage feel. Might add it to me growing list of to-buy's....

Looks like one must have a Facebook account to see the pics. Oh well....

ah - sorry - maybe they are somewhere else - I'll try and find out but I know they are keeping some aspects under wraps - like there isn't a companion book but there is some surprising element - and they won't tell me what it is.

I don't think I get it. I can't figure out what all that stuff around the Queen of Wands is and what she's doing with it. And to some extent---for me anyway---there has to be some familiarity in the images. I don't think "Star" when I see a guy holding a crystal up and examining it and there aren't visual clues to some of the other cards, either. Well, except for card titles, but I prefer a deck with a few more visual cues.

I definitely like the style. I wonder if the artist uses tarot? Does he say?
The Queen of Wands looks to me like a stage performer? Maybe? Actress?

I thought the Judgement card was the Tower. Not sure if I would be able
to use a deck where I can't tell which card is which but it will definitely make
a great collectible. It looks like great artwork. I love the comic book style
though.

Thanks flipperjane. I can see those images and they reminded me that there was an older thread about this deck here. Looks like he's abandoned the mustard borders that no one liked.

Thanks - yes I found that thread after I posted mine. I'm not sure what I think of these cards - I don't think they're going to be my thing really. The Chariot is a very strong image that I do quite like.

Rex drew all the cards in pen and ink and they have been coloured by local artist Steve Dooley

I imagine they discussed the colours.

Also there isn't going to be a companion book but in some way this guy is involved but they won't say how - they are keeping this aspect - what ever it is, a secret.

I like the images, especially the colored borders. I'd definately buy a copy. Do please keep us updated (since I don't do facebook).
