Universal Fantasy - 5 of Swords

Lithargoel

I've been thinking about this card in terms of RWS symbolism...

I can definitely see a "self-interest" aspect to this card, almost
as if the town is alone in looking out for its interests against
opposing towns... Is there an "us against them" mentality here?

The town persona looks very uneasy, as if there is some attack
to be expected from another town. His poise is very defensive -
like a "rock-solid" defense, as we'd say.

The broken swords show conflict. I don't think the town can move
that much, so it looks like something has come to it with the
intention of attacking and it has broken the attacker(s)'s swords
with its own.

As to the town's body... have a look at the red roof lines. I think
from what I can see, the town figure is definitely rooted to the spot.
If this is the case, it doesn't look like it can move, hence it's more
of a defensive figure.

But as to who the figure is in the tower, I have no idea, but will
continue to contemplate it... a very interesting card indeed.
