Llewellyn Tarot - Five of Wands

antiqua

On the Five of Wands of the Llewellyn Tarot we have the five men waving around their wands as it is traditional. The companion book has descriptions "Competition. Erratic energy. Confusion. Inconsistent effort..." that are rather usual ways of interpeting this card.

However, the card has a few details that have given the card some new meanings in my mind.
One of the men is holding a rope and they have a big roll of cloth or paper on the ground. It`s like the card speaks of a project that is on the way, we have a plan layed out and now the men have gathered some materials and are ready to proceed. The scene is not speaking of conflict or erratic energies anymore but about things that are essential to succeed with a project? All the men have to contribute for the project they brought their wands (ideas?) and now they are waving around their wands like "hey, look, I have a wand - and you too!" and it gives a really enthusiastic feel to the card.
Of course, even the best layed plans end up in disasters every now and then but with this card one has to look what other cards are telling to see, if we end up with senseless competition or with something useful :)
