How do you guys read reversed cards?

I am curious, I know this a hotly debated topic amongst tarot readers but how do you all go about reading reversed cards?

I have a few ways that resonate best for me. One way is to view a reversed card as an ongoing situation, feeling, event etc. that has it's roots in the past. I also take a reversal to mean something that is somehow diminished in intensity or force. Sometimes interpreting it as the opposite of its upright meaning works too, but in my experience this is highly dependent on the card.

Sometimes I read a reversal as meaning an unclear situation, a sense that something is not quite right or is missing from the usual meaning when it's upright.

What about you guys? How do you read reversals? Or do you just turn the cards upright? If yes please tell me why!
