Old tarot images

spoonbender

Hey everybody,
I came across some Russian pages and since I don't speak Russian, I was wondering how old the images shown are and what they are called. I hardly know anything about old decks, so please excuse my ignorance - I hope someone here can help.

The first page. (I'm wondering about the images in the right column - you have to scroll down a while...)

The second page. (I know the first is the Visconti-Sforza, but what are the other images shown?)

Is this the kind of stuff the Encyclopedias of Tarot (by Kaplan) deal with? Are the same images shown there?

Thanks,
Spoonbender

some are from Kaplan I, page 125, 128 and 129. I cannot identify all.

Thanks Huck - but... I don't have the Encyclopedia, so I can't look that up :(! (It's good to know that the Encyclopedias handle these sort of things, though.)

Do you have any other info on the images? They look so interesting!

Thanks,
Spoonbender

of course it's interesting ... :)

I can offer you a visit to

http://trionfi.com

where you find lots of historical information to 15th century Tarot, of especial interest should be

http://trionfi.com/0/j/

where you find links to articles and pictures in the net from the early Tarot and playing card time. Don't miss the Museum

http://trionfi.com/0/s/b/
http://trionfi.com/0/s/c/
http://trionfi.com/0/s/

perhaps even

http://geocities.com/tarocchi7/

with some articles to German decks.

But your specific links are very interesting. I could identify some further cards at Kaplan II, 272 - 276, but the midle row of

stays a riddle.

However, Kaplan Encyclopedia I is a MUST in the matter
