Smile Creating a Rock n roll , tattoo and pinstripe inspired deck!

Hello, I'm Shayleen and I'll be 24 soon. I draw a lot and I'm an aspiring storyboarder! I even got a little pet story that I work on my free time that I call Blue Suede Nights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zn8Ryoz1qQQ

I've recently learned about tarot and haven't even gotten to buying my own deck yet...However I've seen a few cards here and there and think that my art style would look really nice on some cards! It'd be awesome to own a deck of cards that are very much part of myself. I've already started on the Tarot deck project a bit to have a set goal and to practice my art. I would love a mentor (or two) to teach me about the cards so I can make the art useful and readable.

I've made a Patreon account for it in case people want to support its creation or spread the word to friends: https://www.patreon.com/Kerkopes?ty=h

Here's a back design sketch with the name Blue Suede Nights but I think I'll take it off.

and sketches of the Aces: wheels, blades, wrenches, and bottles (the borders aren't final and will be slimmer. )

what do you gals and guys think about all that? c:
any decks you recommend I get now that you've seen what I like?

Welcome to AT!!! You'll find some great people here, some of which are deck authors themselves! There's even a whole forum for deck creation! I'd recommend reading some books and working a bit with your own deck before going too deep with your own creation as I feel you'd really gain some amazing insights as what to put in your own deck. A couple good books to check out:

Seventy-eight Degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollack

Tarot Unlocking the Arcana by Angelo Nasios

As far as decks...hmmmmm. Maybe also go for a traditional Rider Waite Smith deck as most books and resources will use that deck as a 'standard' and it's a good one to start out with; additionally, I think an artsy individual like you would enjoy:

The Bonefire Tarot: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/bonefire/

The Lumina Tarot: http://innerhue.bigcartel.com/product/lumina-tarot

The Linestrider Tarot: https://www.amazon.com/dp/0738748293..._KbSpxb77PMGNE

It makes me happy to know that you like my colors and art style!
I've learned to work fast because of animation and storyboarding, they want everything done yesterday xD
I use Paint tool sai and a bit of photoshop. Photoshop is mostly to make things like measured borders or masking things to recolor them as something else.

I'll edit my first post a bit to include my patreon.

Yea, when I was talking to my mom and she mentioned cards that I didn't see in other decks and she told me she had a minchiate deck.

So I tried to look for them and they're like 100-200 dollars from what I can tell and that's so crazy? So I felt that if I make a modern minchiate deck and try to make the 2 numbering systems work, then maybe others can take the system and make their own decks with it as well. I want people to be able to take out the cards

Plus I know that even a 50 deck print run would let me Def sell them at like 35 (shipping included) but I would print enough for all the people interested + extras.

Then I guess I'll try to get a small group of people so we can write a sort of basics for minchiate book, and I can do some illustrations for it.

I don't want to do a Kickstarter because I'm not sure how long it'll take me to draw all the cards. So I picked the Patron because people can pay small amounts per month or just once as I work on the project as best as I can.

oh! I totally luv your idea!) say tnx to your mom we're getting new n modern minichiate!XD lolz imo you can always go with MakePlayingCards for international or open your shop on Gamecrafter!XD (this worked best for my selfpublished oracles!) and they have a best prices!) so no need to worry about that!) just focus on art! and templates!XD lolz

luv book idea!) it's a big +!^^ I had my pdf free online download!)
wish I can help with that!) but my English is not so good!) facepalm
imo you are ok with standard DV guidebook template;
introduction, idea art process, inspiration etc
about the artist and short intro on Tarot /minichiate basic and few keywords/idea for each card upright and reversed?) and few basic spread? maybe you can ask on fb for more help?) are you in any Tarot Creator group there?)
imo you are safe to go with Pictorial Key to Tarot as a reference and it's free of copyright!) http://www.sacred-texts.com/tarot/pkt/
numbering isn't so important!) we all have our preferences and I use mine regardless the deck numerization!) facepalm lolz and for minichiate you can check google/wikipedia or ask your mom about it!) but be sure to check your options for deck sizes and number of cards in deck so you can use it for the best!^^

Sketched out The Lovers!
http://puu.sh/p34Sn/eee1235a29.png
If theres any feedback that you want to do, go ahead!

I made the border on the sides thinner and i made it so the birds will represent air.
panthers for earth, fish for water, and a snake for fire.
I'm not feeling the snake for fire too much so is there any other animal that fits it better?
animals, some are more finished/cleaned up than others
