I can think of the Emperor that way when I think of him as my conscience and not as a dominating male figure. Good one though!

I really resonate with what you said about the emperor. It is very profound. But for this specific exercise I was thinking of shorter anecdotes.

Just flipping through the Major Arcana and the Hierophant caught my eye...

"Embracing tradition at times can be empowering. Don't be afraid to return to your roots."

I like to view the Hierophant as more of a grandfather figure giving advance based on past experience and attained knowledge, rather than a stuffy institution unwilling to change (though sometimes it feels like that in readings).

I like this take on the Hierophant. I often struggle with this card because I just think of rigidity and inflexibility when I see it..
