Little Baron
Today's card is
6 The Lovers (Romeo and Juliet)
Gemini
For me, this is one of the more charming versions of the Lovers card because unlike others, I am not distracted by the sexual side of the imagery. I find the Buckland Romani version very sensual but it is hard for me to look past the obviously 'physical' connection that the couple have.
This one, however, is a real cutie. Isn't this what love is all about. I remember hearing when I was much younger, that your lover or soul mate is carved from the same stone; thats why sometimes it is difficult to search through everybody to find the 'right' one. Physically, like twins, it looks like this could be true. Regardless of their different numbers, they do look alike and seem very comfortable with each other. I see the left one as the male and the right one as the female, even though there doesn't seem to be any reason why they should be either. They actually, probably because they look quite childlike, seem sexless to me anyway, whatever gender they are.
What details do I notice here? The two doors, offering some sort of choise or decision. The two dice; ones possition is a mirror of the other. One lover wears a question mark; the other wears a star. One is labeled 56 and one is labeled 24.
Graham Cameron says of this card -
"Step into scene six, a dimension of love and sexuality. We all wish to be loved, but the question is, how much do we really love others? A couple share a chair locked inside each others space; a moment of true love is shared between them. To have achieved such a feeling of unconditional love, they have both made sacrifices. The lovers understand the difference between love and lust. Love is an inspiration. The lovers show us how to better our relationships and we learn from them how to be more open. the lovers have no expectations of each other; they have not made rules. They are flexible and share each others visions. There is a mutual exchange.
The lovers represent balance between sympathy and lust, intelligence and perceptivity.
A key has been found, the box has been opened, a heart of unconditional love makes itself known. We need to think about the people we are attracted to and those that are attracted to us.
New love affair, conflict between desire and intellect. Reliance or intuition.
Reversed: frustration in relationships, wrong decision".
