My humble method

Interesting, Dawn.
I thought it was air above, earth and water where I stand, and fire below (as in the center of the Earth!).
It made perfect sense to me; however, I was looking at it differently!
I love learning these different approaches and understandings, thanks. :)

I did indeed - I'll sort this in my o.p.

The rationale behind it is that it is my personal associations for the compass points:

1. Air = North
2. Earth = East
3. South = Fire
4. Water = West

Simple and clear! I'll definitely give it a try, since I'm always looking for the one method for historical decks that will finally stick with me.

Oh wow, I love your take on it!! Makes such a lot of sense! I'll try reading with this in mind too and see what happens. :)

I often use a similar spread, but I lay the cards out in a row from right to left: Fire, Water, Air, Earth. This conforms to the Hebrew spelling of the Divine Name, יהוה, but your cardinal directions are interesting in that they form a solar cross.

DT I'm really liking this, and am going to experiment with it later....

Thanks for posting this. It's always nice to have different "tools" available when it comes to laying out the cards.
