Venus retrograde and beyond??

What is Venus retrograde? How does it affect us as living beings and how does it affect our zodiac sign? What comes after the venus retrograde period is over?

Venus retrograde is hell lol well for me it has been. During this time when we have to re evaluate all of our relationships, beauty, and money. During the retrograde old flames with unfinished business come back into our lives to learn our karmic lessons. If you've ever had a karmic connection you know how intense and stressful this can be. Its advised not to get married or make any investments as our perceptions are extremely altered. This is a time specifically for review. To get rid of old patterns and people who no longer serve our highest good. This retrograde happens every one and a half years and last for 40 days. this year the retrogade is from July 25- sept 6 but the effects will last through the end of Oct.

Venus retrograde has been a very difficult time for me and I have been going through a depression which I realised has been within the period of the retrograde. Taurus and Libra are ruled by Venus and could be affected the most (I am Taurus) but also it depends where Venus is in your chart.

Don't have love affairs or buy expensive art or beautiful items for your home during this time or have cosmetic surgery because you might regret it. But we are very negative about retrogrades these days and they have a purpose in cycles! The positives about Venus Retrograde are where we work out who are true friends (or lovers) are, realise that beauty is not the most important thing or the cost of things! We are not perfect and nothing is perfect! our relationships, art, beauty, everything Venus rules, are imperfect in some way.

The retrograde is a great time for making up with friends you have fallen out with or had relationship problems with before the retrograde started and past problems. It's also a great time to buy items like art or antiques in markets that you have no idea of the real value of them, you may be surprised after the Rx ends

But ultimately in this period I am still feeling down and I think it's related to finding my own inner beauty and realising I am imperfect I also think I am working through some really deep issues about love this time around and retrogrades make you go inside yourself. So my point is they are difficult but can be healing and important in the end.

Exactly! If it's an insignificant planet (for you), lacking important influence or aspects or in a house which is of lesser importance in your chart, chances are it will pass without a sign of existence at all.

There is no universal definition of any planet going forward or backwards, which doesn't even happen for real.

confused

Venus just went direct (September 6th), but I heard there's still a shadow period and the effects of Venus Rx are still felt. When would be the best time to embark on new beginnings then? I am confused.

Venus is Retrograde in Virgo from July 25-31, and in Leo from July 31-September 6.

There is a shadow period before and after the main retrograde time, but we constantly have planets either in retrograde or in the shadow period and so if you waited for a good time with clear astrology, there is no day like that in the year

The times when the retrograde is strongest are the 25th July and 6th September, the shadow window and the midpoint of the retrograde are much weaker. I personally noticed things getting easier for me for the 6th! If you were looking for new love (as an example), things might not really take off until October but socialising and meeting new people could happen right now, I think. Every day of the year we have different planets supporting us or opposing us and so Venus might be retrograde but other things might be great for love that day. Some people say with Mercury retrograde to not sign important contracts during the shadow period as well, but that is a long time! However I did once refuse to sign a contract during the Mercury main retrograde period some years ago but I find the start and end day the strongest of retrogrades. But you can embark on new beginnings whenever you want, it will be easier now than before the retrograde probably.

I am really only a beginner at astrology but I don't think astrology is as simple as just thinking retrograde is going to be a bad time and a time to avoid things. But yes there is a shadow period of them, it's a gradual change after the main period, each day less and less effect.

Hi danieljuk, thank you for clearing that up and for the data on Venus retrograde progression. You did really well with explaining this. I am delving more into astrology now that retrogrades have come up more often in my conversations with other readers. Also, thank you for sharing your own personal experience on how the effect varies. I am inspired to keep a journal to see how these periods affect me and how I can make the most of them.

I think that Venus Retrograde tends to make things look worse than they are...

one feels less beautiful

one encounters less beauty in the world

relationships seem more troubled

friendships are not as warm

so on

At least, that's how I experience it, but I have a strong 2nd house and 7th house in my natal chart as well as plenty of planets in Libra.

I'm so glad that it's over!!! Even though it's still in the "shadow" period I treated myself to a a haircut that I've been wanting to get for a few weeks now. I've also noticed that suddenly, as I browse shops on the web, I'm finding better garments and things that actually excite me. Not that I've bought anything, but I'm the kind of person who's always browsing for new clothes and good deals, and I have to admit that in the last couple of days the quality and design of the pieces I've been finding has been much higher than, say, two weeks ago, when Venus was still retrograde.
