oracle noobie

Im thinking - just thinking - of getting into Oracle decks, and I have read here how people often use them in conjunction with tarot. How do you do it exactly? Do you pull out a single oracle card to give the overall "tone" to a reading or to add another depth? Is this a good way to use them, or do you think a good oracle deck deserves its own distinct spread?

As most oracle decks seem so much smaller than the standard tarot deck, it seems to me that the possibilities are more limited...

Ive been looking at the Lenormand decks on Alida, thinking they might give another layer to spreads, but consider myself a total oracle noobie. Also, - while were at it - any recommendations for interesting oracles are welcome. My tarot tastes are more towards the historical, so if you know of any oracles that might tie in with this, appeal to this aesthetic, Id love to know...
