Witches Tarot by Ellen Dugan - 1 The Magician

It's really a shame that this study group has been so neglected! Since nobody has bothered trying to keep up with it, I'll do my best to keep it going!

1 - The Magician

The Magician is standing behind a table with various magickal tools laid out on it. He is wearing a red robe with different magickal symbols embroidered onto it. Above his head is the infinity symbol. He is holding a wand in his left hand, which he is pointing up to the sky. He is pointing down with his right hand. There are 4 faeries that seem to be drawn to him and they are all different colors: red, blue, green, and yellow. The tools on his altar are a chalice, a sword, a pentacle, and a wand. There are red roses and white lilies growing around him.

The Magician is the primordial creative energy. This card symbolizes working with the four natural elements, as we can see with the faeries and the magickal tools. The four elements are: earth (green, pentacle), air (yellow, sword), fire (red, wand), and water (blue, chalice). The magician is pointing up and down. He is a conduit of energy, like a lightening rod. He knows how to direct this energy to achieve his goals. He is a representation of sheer will and creativity. The infinity symbol above his head shows that the force of his will is infinite; like the old cliche, you can do anything you set your mind to. This card represents single-minded focus. What are your goals? You need to have a laser-like focus to accomplish them.
