The day before last week's US election I was feeling particularly agitated. I reached for the nearest deck at hand and a current fave, the Animal Totem Tarot. Asking, what do I need to know about tomorrow's election results, I pulled two cards that in any other circumstances would have indicated a victory for Hillary. But looking at the specific imagery for this pair, particularly in the second card, it appeared that a Hillary victory would not be forthcoming.
This is not a deck I would have ever associated with political readings but in the moment it gave an incredibly clear message. All this to say, the circumscribing of a deck for specific questions is less important than the intuitive reach for a particular deck no matter the subject. Mutability needs to be accounted for.
