Top 10 deck list for 2013

Is the Alice Tarot (by Magic Realistic Press) a contender ?

Debra

Every year we get confused about what was published when. Thank goodness for the organized collectors with data bases. I don't even have a list of my decks on paper.

I'm enamored of the Sola Busca, the Wolfgang Mayer printing, true to the original, put out by Giordano Berti in 2013.

Sola Busca is the oldest known deck with all 78 cards fully illustrated.
It had a huge influence on Pixie Smith's drawings for the Rider-Waite deck.

The Mayer cards were printed in 1998, 700 copies, apparently most unsold. After the printer died, Berti bought the remaining decks, packaged them beautifully, and made them available. They are a real treat. Who knows if they would count as "2013" cards, though. Attached photo from Berti's web page.

2014 might be the year to start a thread entitled "Decks published in 2014" for the purpose of keeping track.

As one with an organised database: :D (and yes, Wild Unknown was 2012)

These are the ones I have (there were quite a few on Gamecrafter and Etsy that I didn't acquire...) And sadly, debra, I don't really think that Mayer Sola Busca can count. Some people had it way back when. (no not me.)

The Alice deck, by the way, is NOT a contender as it doesn't exist. We don't know when it will come out.

I should also add a couple I know of and don't have - as well as those people have asked me to.

Oh I didn't know that it would be possible to mention the Bohemian Gothic Tarot for instance, thus reissues.

How many votes one person has?

gregory

I don't approve of allowing votes for reissues myself. Others disagree. I'd love Solandia to exclude them, myself.

gregory, didn't the Illuminati come out this year? I don't see it on your list.

Good grief - yes indeed. One moment.... Off (terrified) to database...

That's weird - it shows as 2013, and comes up on a search now.... I hope I didn't miss anything else, then.... Added.

AH and whew. I have the kit and the deck. I deleted one - I must have "over selected", is all.

ana luisa

I was going to vote for the Illuminati but I'll go for the Mibramig for its creative twist.

My first thought after seeing Gregory's list is that the Deck of the Bastard was the best new tarot I bought this year. The whole concept of the deck really blew my mind . . . and it is so freaking beautiful in person.

But then, I really crazy-love the Elora tarot, too.

Decisions, decisions.
