Whatever tv show this song came from....I sure missed it. Sounds like something HBO would play, since it is THAT type of cable channel. LOL

I thought it summed up the eight of swords for sex quite well.

See how things work differently for different people.:) Dr Hook was the band that gave me the SUPER sappy romantic "Sharing the night together". Oh, boy, the memories... :heart:

I see it as me being tied up and blindfolded and being told to stay very still. I'm a collared submissive, so when the emperor and 8 of swords showed up in a reading - I wasn't surprised. It also had the sun and star card so I knew exactly what that meant.

Anyways, as a submissive, you often get placed in a situation you may not be totally comfortable with, and that's why you MUST trust your Dom 100%, make clear of your boundaries, but they will push you a little bit, to figure out if that's a boundary you put there because you're not sure about it - or if it's a hard "no" - so you gotta trust them to be able to listen to you when you tell them.

Also, despite how completely helpless we seem, and how badly we "appear" to be treated - we can make scenes stop. We can make sex stop at any time. I can make the ropes go away by saying my safeword for ropes.

The 8 of Swords is knowing you can be in control, even when you feel like you can't be. You can use the swords (voice, hand signals, or just plain getting up and getting dressed) to cut the bindings and take your blind fold off. You can get up and say "I'm done.

So, I think being a submissive with the 8 of Swords makes the most sense to me.

Expanding on those thoughts in a positive sexual way for the eight of swords is the red-yellow-green light concept. I have spoken on this in other contexts...somewhere.

The idea is this...most people agree on the basics of sex and are most all in agreement on back and foot rubs. From there things get weird in a hurry.

Everybody has something weird sexually (often several things), something that would make some people say "What a great idea!" and make other people say, "You are kidding me, right?". The trick is to match up your green lights with the green lights of someone you are with and you can have quite a time.

If you are both green light on a sex act go for it. If one person is yellow and the other green you tread carefully. Red light for either person is a no-go. A light can change at any time without question. That has to be the understanding between the partners. If you are both turned on by adding a midget vampire in the mix go for it. If either of you get the heebie-jeebies part way through it stops right there with no questions ask.

The eight of swords for a sexual relationship could mean for a person to take an honest look at what their red-yellow-green lights are in sex and see where things go from there.
