In it Ted got the death card, three times.

The day after they finished filming the third series...
He died.

OMG - I NEVER thought of that. But it's true. JUST as the series started to be accepted as a gem; he had been SO maligned for YEARS and was JUST THEN recognised as the comic genius he was when ZAPPO. :(
