I think Crowley made up some of the titles, but there are over 90 degrees :bugeyed: in the Rite of Memphis-Mizraim alone.

Thats the issue, given that some subsumed others one could be granted a collection of titles in one sitting without passing through the degrees. Crowley would award them like an avalanche on to some ... its a lesson about ego and arrogance ... his rites are full of them ... one might feel very proud to be 'awarded' a certain degree until one found out it translated to the Grand and Supreme Eater of Camel Dung.

Some didnt get the joke and even went out to search for and buy the defunct badges and emblems and attach them to their robes.

People awarded them to Crowley along with the appropriate ribbons, medals, sashes and chains. In his 'Confessions' (I think it was ) he talks about when one time, for a lark, he put them all on ... he said the weight and incumberance made it near impossible to walk  I can see him appearing like that to a would be candidate
